Standalone versus networkedStandalone means codes are programmed at the door and the lock owes nothing to a network. Networked access control is a different product, a different budget, and a different failure mode when the internet drops.

Battery lifeCommercial keypad locks typically run on AA cells for a stated number of cycles. Cold exterior doors drain them faster than the rating suggests.

Key overrideMost models offer a cylinder override so a mechanical key still works. Decide this before ordering, because it changes the part number.

WeatherAn exterior keypad has to be rated for it. A lock specified for interior use will fail outdoors, and that is not a warranty claim.
